The Education Ministry has confirmed that it is once again pushing for the dismissal of Park Ji-hyang, chairperson of the Northeast Asian History Foundation, who returned following a court ruling. Just two days after his return on the 25th, Park requested the board of directors to convene regarding the dismissal proposal on the 27th and 28th. This marks the fourth time this month that he has sent the same official document, with the grounds for dismissal being the same allegations of embezzlement in the course of his duties.
The foundation has emphasized that the court ruled the grounds for dismissal were inappropriate, arguing that there are issues with the deadline for convening the board and the quorum, and has requested a postponement of the meeting. However, the Education Ministry sent another official document regarding the dismissal proposal on the 28th, which is interpreted as a form of pressure on Park.
Park Ji-hyang criticized the Education Ministry's actions, stating, "It seems they are just determined to harass me." He mentioned that he is considering filing a complaint against Education Minister Cho Kyoo-jin for abuse of power. The Education Ministry maintains that there are no issues with the request for dismissal through the board.
