Gas prices at service stations nationwide have shown a downward trend for 15 consecutive weeks, with gasoline and diesel prices remaining in the 1,800 won range. According to the Korea National Oil Corporation's oil price information system, Opinet, the average selling price of gasoline for the fourth week of August (23-27) was 1,861.3 won per liter, down 1.2 won from the previous week. In Seoul, the gasoline price decreased by 1.1 won to 1,907.8 won, while in Daegu, it was reported at 1,834.2 won, down 1.4 won.
By brand, GS Caltex had the highest price at 1,864.7 won, while discount gas stations recorded the lowest price at 1,852.5 won. The average selling price of diesel was 1,845.2 won, down 0.5 won from the previous week. International oil prices are also on a downward trend, with Dubai crude falling by 0.9 dollars to 92.1 dollars per barrel. The international gasoline price decreased by 2.4 dollars to 111.5 dollars, and diesel for vehicles dropped by 9.2 dollars to 154.5 dollars.
These fluctuations in international oil prices tend to be reflected in domestic service station prices after 2 to 3 weeks. To minimize the impact of international oil price fluctuations on domestic prices, the government is maintaining the maximum oil prices, and on the 21st, it set the 9th maximum oil price at the same level as before. Gasoline was designated at 1,784 won per liter, diesel at 1,773 won, and kerosene at 1,380 won.
