Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon launched a strong criticism against President Lee Jae-myung's nomination of Kim Seung-won, a member of the Democratic Party, as Minister of Justice. He argued that if Kim is appointed as minister, it is intended to cancel the indictment against President Lee Jae-myung.
In a post on his Facebook, Han pointed out that Kim is "the representative of the 'Lee Jae-myung Indictment Cancellation Group' and will use the investigative authority of the Minister of Justice to cancel Lee Jae-myung's indictment." He added, "It seems that former Minister of Justice Jeong Seong-ho ran away out of fear regarding Kim's nomination."
Criticism of Kim's past actions also continued. Han emphasized, "Kim is the lawyer for Nam Wook, a co-conspirator in the Daejang-dong case, and publicly opposed the 'Lone Star appeal' that protected 7 trillion won of taxpayers' money." He warned, "He is the person who led the abolition of supplementary investigations that put all citizens at risk, and if he becomes Minister of Justice, he will ruin the country."
