A fire that broke out this morning in a multi-family house in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, resulted in one death and four injuries. The fire started around 11 PM last night on the first floor and spread to the third floor, forcing residents to evacuate urgently. A nearby resident reported that they kicked down the door to escape upon seeing the flames.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 30 minutes, but a man in his 20s was found dead, and two others suffered second-degree burns among the total of four injured.
Additionally, around 7:20 AM today, a worker in his 50s from Korail was killed in an accident at Uiwang Station while performing train coupling operations. Korail stated that they are investigating the cause of the accident that occurred during the coupling work, assuring that there are no disruptions to passenger train services. In relation to this, the railway police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor are looking into the circumstances of the incident.
This incident is one of several accidents that occurred over the weekend, and the fire in Incheon along with the accident at Uiwang Station has deeply shocked the local community. Authorities have stated they will do their utmost to ensure the safety of the victims and to determine the cause of the accidents.
