A woman in her 50s operating a land development business in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, was attacked by a man wielding a blunt object. The incident occurred around 3 PM on the 12th of last month, while the victim, referred to as A, was out of the office on hospital duties and experienced a horrific event. A man entered the office with a sledgehammer measuring 1 meter in length, destroying the entrance door and windows, and recklessly smashing computers and telephones inside.
When A returned to the office, she was confronted with the devastating scene of her wrecked workplace. The police arrived at the scene but chose to calm the man and allowed him to leave. However, the man pretended to go home but returned to the office, threatening A by saying, "I will kill you." A quickly fled outside the office and made a second report to the police.
The police, upon their second arrival, again did not arrest the man as a suspect. A's husband requested the police to arrest him on the spot, but the police deemed that an arrest was not appropriate at that time. A has posted the details of the incident on the National Petition Board and has filed a complaint against the man, while also requesting protection from the police. The police acknowledged their inadequate initial response to the incident and expressed their apologies.
