Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that two people were killed after Russian drones struck a border crossing between Ukraine and Moldova. The attack occurred at the Starokozache crossing, located approximately 500 kilometers south of Kyiv, leading to its closure. Images from the scene showed several cars completely scorched, with wreckage and debris scattered across the border post.
In the wake of the attack, Zelensky renewed calls for international support, stating that "the aggression must be stopped here and now before it spreads any further." Odesa regional governor Oleg Kiper reported that the attack resulted in three injuries, including a Moldovan driver.
Moldova has increasingly found itself entangled in the conflict, with Prime Minister Vasile Tofan confirming that 17 drones struck Moldovan territory in August alone, surpassing the total from the previous year. Meanwhile, in Novorossiysk, Russia, a Ukrainian drone attack resulted in four deaths and 29 injuries, damaging residential buildings, a church, and a preschool. The Russian defense ministry claimed to have shot down 596 Ukrainian drones overnight, amid escalating tensions between the two nations.
