US Central Command announced on October 3 that it has resumed strikes against Iran. The strikes were justified by recent attempted attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Former President Donald Trump warned that Iran would face "a much harder and higher level" of attack if it retaliated.
According to Iranian state media, a strike near Sirik in southern Iran resulted in the deaths of four people, including a child, and injured 50 at a wedding party. Additionally, reports indicated explosions in various regions, with Iran claiming to have initiated retaliatory attacks on US bases and interests in the region.
This attack marks the first known US strikes on Iran since late July, following Iran's missile strike on a US military base in Jordan in response to earlier US actions. A ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran, signed in June, has expired, leading to a resumption of hostilities, with both sides targeting shipping in the region.
