Donald Trump, the President of the United States, stated on September 2 that the military attacks on Iran would not last long, saying, "We are ready to strike again whenever we want." He made these remarks during a press briefing at the White House, responding to a question about the duration of the renewed attacks on Iran. Despite the upcoming midterm elections in November, he asserted, "I am not running, so it does not affect the elections."
The Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that airstrikes were conducted against the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeting their air defense systems and radar. Tensions have escalated as military engagements resumed after a month-long hiatus. Trump claimed, "Last night we hit them very hard," adding that they were attempting to rebuild their radar, missile, and mine-laying systems.
He suggested on his social media platform, Truth Social, that the Strait of Hormuz could be renamed "Trump Strait," asserting that the U.S. has control over the strait. He emphasized that the U.S. is currently controlling the strait and facilitating the passage of millions of barrels of oil daily. In response to Iranian drone attacks, he stated that the U.S. has been shooting them down. Additionally, Trump criticized Canada over trade issues, claiming that the U.S. has suffered significant losses in trade with Canada and that it is time for Canada to stop taking advantage of the U.S.
