Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, raised his voice in criticism on the 31st regarding the nomination of Yong Hye-in, a member of the Basic Income Party, as Minister of Gender Equality and Family. He demanded the withdrawal of the nomination, stating on Facebook, "The appointment of 'hate merchant' Yong Hye-in will be a self-destructive card for President Lee Jae-myung's administration."
Ahn criticized Yong Hye-in for being elected as a proportional representative member of the Democratic Party twice in a row, pointing out that even if she becomes a minister, she seems to want to maintain her position as a proportional representative. He claimed, "Yong has been fueling politics with hatred and division throughout her term," and noted her opposition to policies that grant benefits for military service, which he argued has exacerbated gender conflicts.
He also alleged that Yong Hye-in has provoked hatred over sexual issues, leading to backlash from religious and civic groups. Ahn warned, "If such a candidate sits in the ministerial position meant to lead national unity, she will not be a Minister of Gender Equality but a Minister of Gender Discrimination," adding that this would deal a significant blow to the government. He urged President Lee, saying, "There is still time to retract this, so I hope you will do so quickly."
