Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon revealed on the 9th that he has phone call records related to allegations that Kim Seung-won, the nominee for Minister of Justice, solicited approval for a COVID-19 drug clinical trial, asserting that Kim was aware that broker Yang was receiving payments through his lobbying. Han emphasized on Facebook that Kim knew Yang was receiving tens of millions of won from Kang and called for a special investigation.
In the disclosed phone call, Han claimed that Kang mentioned a commission related to attracting investment to Yang, stating that Yang actually received tens of millions of won. He said that Kim was aware that if he lobbied the head of the Food and Drug Administration, Yang would receive between 800 million and 1 billion won in the form of CB investment. Han argued that this constitutes third-party bribery and demanded punishment for Kim.
In response, Kim Min-seok, a member of the Democratic Party, countered that Han's claims could be considered a separate incident, stating that he would verify the facts and take legal action against any related leakers. In retaliation, Han warned that he would take criminal action against Kim for spreading false information and announced his intention to fully disclose the phone call records. This has intensified the conflict between the two lawmakers.
