He pointed out on CPBC radio that "the public must have the perception that 'it was really serious'" and noted that public opinion has not been favorably shaped.
Kim emphasized the importance of prioritizing people's livelihoods over hastening the processing of the special prosecutor law. He stated, "There must be public consensus for it to be pursued," calling for a cautious approach to the special prosecutor bill. He also mentioned criticisms regarding the prosecutor's authority to dismiss charges included in the bill, arguing that the special investigation should proceed without this provision.
Within the Democratic Party, there are voices advocating for the swift processing of the special prosecutor bill, but it seems that, in line with Kim Han-kyu's cautious stance, a slowdown will be necessary for the time being. The Democratic Party plans to investigate the allegations of manipulated indictments related to 12 cases, including those involving President Lee Jae-myung, through this bill.
