On the 29th, Democratic Party leader Kim Min-seok emphasized the spirit of former President Kim Young-sam while urging the expulsion of People Power Party member Lee Jin-sook at the opening ceremony of Congressman Park Hong-bae's local office in Busan.
Kim argued, "If the People Power Party wants to inherit the spirit of former President Kim, they must expel Lee Jin-sook; otherwise, they should take down his picture." He mentioned that President Kim regarded the spirit of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement as a significant achievement of the civilian government, criticizing the current support for Lee Jin-sook as undermining that spirit. He added, "If President Kim were here now, he would not support the People Power Party."
Additionally, Kim Min-seok announced plans to run in the 2028 general elections in both Seoul and Busan. He emphasized that Busan is a traditional stronghold of democracy and that the Democratic Party has produced three presidents from the region. He stated, "This is the last chance for Busan citizens," and expressed his intention to prepare for the elections with a humble yet challenging approach.
