The Democratic Party has strongly refuted the rumors of a merger with Lee Jun-seok's reform party that were recently raised by some YouTube channels, stating that it is "completely untrue." Spokesperson Shin Hyun-young expressed this position through a media announcement on the 29th.
Spokesperson Shin stated, "Due to the recent spread of misinformation, baseless speculation and fake news are proliferating," and requested accurate reporting from the media. Former leader Lee Jun-seok resigned from his position on the 26th, taking responsibility for the party's defeat in the June 3 local elections.
Some YouTubers have suggested the possibility of a merger in relation to Lee's resignation and President Lee Jae-myung's 'structural majority,' but the Democratic Party firmly denies this and is wary of claims that are not based in fact.
