Park Ji-hyang, chairman of the Northeast Asia History Foundation, has announced his intention to file a complaint against Education Minister Choi Kyo-jin. This comes as the Education Ministry is pushing for Park's dismissal. After recently returning to his position following a court ruling, Park received two official requests for dismissal from the Education Ministry.
Park's side argues that the dismissal request constitutes abuse of power, citing similar past incidents. The Education Ministry claims that Park improperly used funds related to projects concerning Dokdo and Ulleungdo as grounds for dismissal. However, Park countered that the court found insufficient evidence of intent regarding the alleged misappropriation of funds.
The Education Ministry maintains that Park's dismissal is possible and explained that dismissal can occur even for undisclosed matters. Park was appointed as chairman of the Northeast Asia History Foundation in December 2023, and his current term is set to end in December of this year.
