Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon criticized the Central Ethics Committee of the People Power Party for imposing severe penalties on four incumbent lawmakers, stating, "Ethics committee politics is the lowest form of politics," during a press conference after the 'Future Innovation Forum of Korea' seminar held at the National Assembly on the 25th. He emphasized that the party should return to a stance of unity through dialogue, stating, "Politics of addition is needed rather than politics of subtraction."
Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon also pointed out that under Jang Dong-hyuk's leadership, the party is regressing and heading towards becoming a private entity, arguing that such a situation must be overcome to fulfill the mission of conservatism against the Democratic Party regime. He raised concerns about Jang's proposal for a complete re-election of party committee chairs, questioning the intentions behind it and adding that a traditional public party should not become a private entity.
Lawmaker Kim Ki-hyun mentioned in his opening remarks that the politics centered around party members is excessively skewed, emphasizing the need for a shift towards citizen-centered politics. They all expressed concerns about the future and direction of the party, highlighting the necessity for unity and reflecting the voices of the people in politics.
