Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back met with his Czech counterpart, Jaromir Zuna, on September 8, 2026, during the Seoul Defense Dialogue. The two ministers discussed ways to strengthen defense and arms cooperation between South Korea and the Czech Republic.
Zuna praised the current state of bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including nuclear power plants, and expressed hope for further expansion of cooperation in defense and security. In response, Ahn pledged to deepen their complementary relations based on the strengths of both countries.
Ahn also urged Zuna to support South Korea's policy regarding North Korea, highlighting the serious threat posed by the North's advancing nuclear and missile capabilities. Additionally, Ahn met with Papua New Guinea's Defense Minister Elias Kapavore to discuss enhancing defense cooperation, and he reviewed the status of military training and taekwondo cooperation with Uganda's Defense Minister Kiryowa Kiwanuka.
