Seong Il-jun, a member of the People Power Party, announced at a National Assembly meeting on the 1st that he would push for a national investigation into the introduction process of single stock leverage ETFs. He criticized the government’s economic policies as citizens are exposed to the rapid volatility of high-risk financial products and are lining up to take out loans.
He emphasized, "Citizens are anxious in front of the heightened loan thresholds, and those who invested in high-risk financial products had to bear the risk of losses," criticizing the resignation of Kim Yong-beom, the head of the Presidential Office's Policy Office, who oversaw these policies. Seong stated that he would thoroughly investigate the issues surrounding the introduction of single stock leverage ETFs and hold accountable those responsible for the flawed policies.
Additionally, Choi Soo-jin, the chief spokesperson for the People Power Party, mentioned that Kim's dismissal was warranted and that they would submit a request for a national investigation. He stressed that it should not end with a mere scapegoat and called for responsible actions.
