KBS faced controversy after using inappropriate subtitles in a video posted on its YouTube channel. The video is a clip from the 2002 KBS 2TV entertainment program 'Happy Together,' where comedian Shim Hyung-rae shares anecdotes from his military service.

The title of the video was 'Shim Hyung-rae Almost Went to the Hospital While Imitating a Tank in Front of a General,' which included the term 'tank.' However, the actual content of the video showed Shim imitating the Hulk, leading to criticism that the subtitles and title were incorrect.

KBS's YouTube channel 'Kkal Kkal TV' issued a statement on the 27th, apologizing for the inappropriate subtitles that could cause discomfort. They acknowledged that the expressions in the title and thumbnail did not match the content.

'Kkal Kkal TV' explained that the responsible employee failed to filter out the incorrect expression during the review process and added that the expression was also inappropriate in context. They reported that the freelancer who produced the content and the reviewing employee acknowledged their mistakes.

KBS stated that they take this matter seriously and have immediately terminated the contract of the related freelancer, while the responsible employee has been excluded from their duties, and an internal investigation is underway. They apologized for the inappropriate expressions and issues with the verification system, emphasizing their commitment to preventing recurrence.

This incident highlights issues in KBS's content production process, raising calls for more thorough verification in the future.
