U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the United States on the 24th with his wife, Peng Liyuan. During a signing ceremony for an executive order at the White House on the 4th, President Trump said, "President Xi is coming on September 24. He is a great gentleman," adding, "He is coming with his beautiful wife."
President Trump also mentioned the trade relationship between the two countries, emphasizing, "We have a very good trade relationship." He added, "China has taken advantage of us for a long time during previous administrations, but I do not blame them. We have gotten along very well with China."
This U.S.-China summit will take place about four months after President Trump's state visit to Beijing in mid-May. In this regard, the two countries are scheduled to hold high-level talks on AI safety risks in mid-month, with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessen leading the discussions. It is reported that the Chinese side may be represented by Vice Premier He Lifeng or Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China.
