Just a day after the Board of Audit and Inspection announced that there were coercive investigations and illegal forensics during the audit of statistical manipulation allegations under the Moon Jae-in administration, the auditors targeted for severe penalties refuted the claims and released recordings. These auditors stated that there had been no claims of 'coercive investigation' for nearly two years following the interim results of the audit, but they argued that some claims from the audited parties were accepted by the TF after the current government took office.
The TF revealed on the 27th that during the investigation of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport official A by auditors B and C, C allegedly pressured A by stating, 'You need to cooperate to avoid personal issues,' thereby coercing consent for forensics. The TF claimed that C pressured A by saying, 'It would be better for you to agree,' leaving A with no choice but to consent. However, it was revealed in the recorded conversation that C told A to 'do it voluntarily.'
The Board of Audit and Inspection requested that institutions audited for statistical manipulation in April compile cases of coercive investigation, and only opinions stating that coercive investigations occurred were submitted from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Investigations into civil servants' mobile phones were frequently conducted under past administrations, and the Blue House during the Moon Jae-in administration had conducted forensics multiple times related to diplomatic issues.
