European leaders mark Ukraine’s 35th Independence Day as Russian invasion pushes on

European leaders arrived in Kyiv on Monday to attend celebrations marking Ukraine’s Independence Day. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed the leaders which included European Council President António Costa, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden, and Moldovan President Maia Sandu, at Kyiv’s railway station. The ceremony took place outside St. Sofia Cathedral, where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy handed over the flag of a military unit.

Meanwhile, in Russia’s Krasnodar region, a Ukrainian drone strike resulted in the deaths of three teenagers and injuries to six other children. Local authorities reported that a five-story apartment building was also damaged, injuring four residents.
