On the 25th, Lee Seong-gwon, a member of the People Power Party, voiced criticism regarding the party reform proposal to be announced on the occasion of Jang Dong-hyuk's first anniversary as leader. He stated, "Party reform is not a 1st anniversary event for Chairman Jang," emphasizing that political parties must always innovate in line with the demands of the times and public sentiment.
Lee referenced past successful cases of party reform, arguing that for reforms to succeed, their direction and content must resonate with public sentiment. He pointed out, "We must face the reality that the reform proposal announced last January has been met with public indifference," highlighting the importance of two-way communication. He criticized the approach of a small group in power making decisions as authoritarian, stating that this does not constitute true reform.
Additionally, Lee urged Chairman Jang to create a platform for gathering diverse opinions from both inside and outside the party for the reform, adding that this could help the People Power Party become a trusted political entity. He emphasized that the reform process must be transparent and should reflect the sentiments of party members and the public.
