The Democratic Party on the 31st described Yong Hye-in, a member of the Basic Income Party, as a "tailored talent" after nominating her as the Minister of Gender Equality and Family, stating that she will fulfill her role responsibly. Supreme Council member Choi Min-hee welcomed President Lee Jae-myung's appointment during the party's Supreme Council meeting, emphasizing the selection of a young and capable female talent.
Choi evaluated the candidate Yong Hye-in, born in the 1990s, as someone who confidently expresses her views while balancing work and parenting. She has played a significant role in the Gender and Family Committee during her terms as a member of the 21st and 22nd National Assembly and has experience in promoting laws such as the Living Together Partners Act.
Supreme Council member Seo Mi-hwa mentioned that the negative criticism against candidate Yong Hye-in has gone too far, emphasizing that the roles of a member of the National Assembly and a government minister are different. She also highlighted that Yong is a capable and experienced individual, adding that sufficient verification is necessary for the public to make a judgment.
